¶ Managing and Expanding Your Colony
Once your colony is established, effective management is crucial for long-term success. Develop your station, expand services, and secure your influence to create a thriving colony.
¶ Station Development and Services
After completing the primary starport, additional facilities and services can be constructed. Initially, the station will have limited functionality, but over time, more modules and services can be unlocked, including:
- Mission Boards – Provide jobs for pilots and help develop the local economy.
- Commodities Market – Allows trade and supply management for the colony.
- Outfitting and Shipyard – Essential for upgrading ships and supporting local pilots.
Strategic planning is crucial—expanding station services efficiently will determine the colony’s growth and success.
¶ Establishing a Local Economy
To sustain your colony, you'll need to ensure a steady flow of goods and materials. This is done through:
- Trade Routes – Establishing profitable trade connections with nearby systems.
- Mining Operations – Extracting valuable resources for station construction and trade.
- Mission Contributions – Completing colony-related missions that boost local influence.
A thriving economy ensures the station remains operational and attracts more pilots and traders to the system.
¶ Defending Your Colony
As your colony grows, it may become a target for hostile forces such as pirates or rival factions. To protect your system, you can:
- Deploy Defense Forces – Station NPC security ships to patrol the system.
- Construct Defense Platforms – Install turrets and automated security systems.
- Engage in System Conflicts – Participate in combat to protect and expand control.
Without proper defense, your colony could face blockades, attacks, or economic disruption.
¶ Expanding Your Territory
Once your first colony is well-established, you can begin expanding to neighboring systems. Using a combination of exploration, trade, and influence, you can develop a network of colonies, increasing your faction’s power across the galaxy.
Players can choose to:
- Focus on a Single Mega-System – Developing a single system into a heavily populated hub.
- Spread Across Multiple Systems – Creating a network of colonies for strategic control.
- Align with Major Powers or Stay Independent – Joining a superpower can provide protection and benefits, but independence allows for greater autonomy.
